Antoine Lavoisier is widely considered as the ‘father of modern chemistry’. Lavoisier was beheaded under the guillotine. He is said to have changed the science from a qualitative to quantitative one. At the height of French Revolution, he was accused of selling adulterated tobacco and other crimes, and was eventually guillotined.
