Opossum facts

Opossums are marsupials, just like kangaroos. The mother carries her young in her pouch. Young opossums are extremely tiny. At birth the young opossums are blind, hairless and practically shapeless. Young opossums are so small that one can put all of the 5 to 18 babies in a tablespoon when they are born.
