Tagore’s famous poem Bharattirtha is a reflection of his spirit of harmony of religions, caste and creed. In Bharattirtha, Tagore describes India as a pilgrimage where people from different parts of the globe have congregated and settled down. When it was first published in the Pravasi Patrika, it was named Matree-Abhishek (adoring the mother). Later the name was changed to Bharattirtha. He said that the poem is the poetic gist of his famous novel Gora.
