The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk

Cartoonist Stan Lee’s creation Hulk made his maiden appearance in the year 1962, in a comic series named after him – The Incredible Hulk.

The Hulk is the alter ego of a timid and aloof physicist named Bruce Banner. His accidental exposure to gamma rays lead to mutation in him. He physically transforms into a green-skinned, muscular and immensely powerful giant at times of extreme anger or anxiety.

Actually, the first two issues of the series portrayed him in grey. In fact, the giant was conceived in grey, probably to avoid racist references. However, the idea did not seem to work as the print form was not uniform in colour. Finally, the team opted for green for his skin, as the colour could be controlled better in printing.

And our newly transformed hero also had a new alibi to justify the change – his moods!
